Contemporary art gradually begins its expansion in the museum space of St. Petersburg enters into dialogue with the inevitable classic. The idea of the exhibition was asking for a long time: Dmitry Zhukov and Vlad Kulkov one of the few contemporary Russian art artists, who consistently works with abstraction: Zhukov - in sculptural forms, shifting abstract lines in the scope of large-scale compositions of metal, Vlad Kulkov -in painting.
The central part of the exhibition included the works of D. Zhukov: the object "Untitled" (Wings), which was first exhibited at ART re.FLEX Gallery (2013/2014); W St. Petersburg (2014) and is represented at the festival Nord Art (2015) in Germany, as well as works from the series "Russian lace" (2015), stated in the framework of the parallel program of the second Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, 2016 (the project got its unexpected continuation in format "Steambaroque" exhibition).
Color dominant exposure will work V. Kulkova, recently presented by the artist in the exhibition "Beads of Hiroshima" (Moscow, the Regina Gallery), created specifically for the project «Steambaroque / soaring Baroque" with the assistance of the Regina Gallery, St. Petersburg and will be shown to the public for the first time.
